MOM BOSS

SITA NYC Mom Boss

We sat down with Traci Kaye, SITA designer from the very beginning. Traci provided us insights into her creative and ever-changing life as a mom and designer.

What’s your favorite item in the SITA Collection?

What brings you the greatest joy?

Working with my hands, drawing, painting, building, sculpting. And my kids are alright too.

What item in your closet do you wear the most?

My short leather jacket, going on year 20 and still works.

What is one thing you wish you knew about your style when you were younger?

Don't try so hard. You can pull off anything if you believe in it. Take a risk and own it.

Alive or Past, who would most like to have lunch with and why?

My Mom. I just have so many questions and would love her opinion and reassurance on so many topics! She was incredibly resilient.

What does Versatility mean to you?

How flexible we all can be in our lives, our environments and our clothing.
How many ways can I wear a piece? How many seasons? How many occasions?
Can I wear it through my entire day? Go to work, pick up kids, make dinner and then head out for a dinner, a gallery, a concert, or club. (Please let this all happen soon!) Now It’s can I put it on in the am workout, have a zoom meeting, help my kids with school, make dinner and then have some drinks and lounge around and not change.

How do you Relax?

A combination of being in nature, painting, reading, yoga, and dancing.

How are you keeping your routine at home consistent during this time?

SITA NYC Quarantine Routine
We have set up a schedule for myself and our family. And while I am interrupted almost non stop I’ve come to (try) accept that as part of the new routine... so I have given myself some space for this. And I try and take a lot of deep breaths and have some moments that are truly mine where I schedule a work out or a meditation. Often I am in the midst of a class and either have a dog or a child on my mat and I try and find the beauty in the midst of the chaos.... sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. And that’s ok.

What was your first job?

Assistant Designer at Katayone Adeli.
